Welcome to Young not Dumb, a blog that is exclusively dedicated to all things concerned with the rights and welfare of children. Children’s rights has been a passion of mine for a number of years and since at this present time I do not work within the field I still wanted to indulge my passion and possibly share it with some like minded people.
The main principles behind Young not Dumb are that children, as a marginalised group should not be subject to the denial of rights purely based on their position of minority. Children despite their youth do have a voice and opinions about the world around them and the issues that affect their lives. Youth is not the same as stupidity; children are not blind, deaf and dumb to the abuses they suffer at the hands of the adults in their world.
To this end, Young not Dumb endeavours to be a platform to raise awareness and highlight the iniquities that are present in the lives of children’s on a local and global scale.
